The mushroom soup and wine tasting in PA sounds fun. I may meander up that way.
I'm debating about whether to splurge on at least part of the Pinehurst Wine Festival Labor Day Weekend. There are 2, 3 and 4-night packages with 3-day, 4-day, or 5-day events including a golf tournament on Saturday. Wineries involved include Robert mondavi, Greg Norman, Merryvale Vineyards, Saintsbury, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Mayacamus, Caymus Vineyards, Kendall-Jackson and Veuve Clicquot among others. Events include a champagne reception, three classic tastings, a wine picnic and grand dessert buffet, luncheon and fashion show, culinary show, wines of the Coonawarra District, pastry demonstrations, several seminars, grand gourmet gala, final tasting and dinner, champagne brunch. Duke University Heart Center is presenting a women's health program the morning of the golf tournament. An auction to benefit the Heart Center will include sports memorabilia from the NCAA-Championship Basketball team.
Prices are high (Pinehurst is a famous resort) but it all sounds fun. Dates are August 30-September 3. For reservations and information call 1-800-487-4653.
