- wondersofwine - 05-03-2004 Created my own flight of three wines to try in small pours at the Dean & Deluca Wine Bar at Phillips Place. 2001 Merlin Pouilly-Fuisse $3.25 for 2 oz. pour attractive, subtle aroma; fuller than expected presence in the mouth; balanced; not too woody; not particularly layered; could match with shellfish; bought one bottle to take home 2002 Alban Viognier, Central Coast, CA $3.50 for 2 oz. pour some florals; not as aromatic as the Miner Viognier from previous dinner; crisp with some apple and pear; slightly disappointed as I had heard good things about Alban Viognier 2002 Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel $2.50 for 2 oz. pour Medium red color, clear; strange initial aroma--could not pin it down to associate with similar scents; pleasant taste; fruity and balanced; some cherry along with bramble berries; not at all tannic; goes down easy bought two bottles to take home along with the 2002 Ridge Paso Robles Zinfandel (Dusi Ranch) |
