I have signed up for a wine dinner with Markham and the event where all participating vintners offer some of their wine. Would like to include a Syrah tasting at The Angus Barn on Saturday but I am scheduled to teach a class that day (Saxum, Pax, Cayuse among those in the Syrah tasting). The Garretson dinner is already sold out as is the Rudd dinner. Others include Caymus, Switchback Ridge, Pride, etc. Seems to be a lot of emphasis on Napa Valley this year and Cabernet Sauvignon--not much choice of top Pinot Noir wineries.

It's too bad the Garretson dinner is sold out, but if you have a chance to meet him or taste his wines, you should do so. We had a chance to visit with him last summer when he was in Atlanta, and he was funny, down-to-earth, and very enthusiastic. Not at all a stuffy guy. The wines are good, too, and make sure you ask about the stories behind the unique names!

Hope you have fun at the event, and as always, we look forward to your notes!
