Tastes Like a Cabernet But Isn't - Winenot - 07-08-2015

I'm going to a wine tasting with friends who are very knowledgeable; I am not. I need to bring a red wine - just not a Cabernet or Cab blend. In the mix will be a 40th Anniversary Caymus. The challenge is to bring a red that might fool people into thinking it is a Cabernet; the Caymus. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Hi Winenot and welcome to the Wine Board. Ask you wine merchant for the most overblown Merlot that he has. That should do it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I presume "overblown" is a term of art. I'm still learning.

Let's just say it is much more than your average Merlot. Your purveyor will be able to explain it more thoroughly.
