- jo mac - 01-22-2004 hi there-would love some help in identifing the age and any other info on a bottle of wine i have recently come across. it is a Titulus-Verdicchio Dei Castellidi Jesi "Classico" Vino A Denominazione Di Origine Controllata from the Fazi Battaglia winery in Italy(i think) label states is a white wine product italy it is in a beautifully decorated stone, shaped bottle with what looks like gold inlays of vines and leaves and an inlay of a female and a male person in robes the top of the bottle is foil wrapped. bottle is very heavy.it has the numbers 92079 (AN-3) on neck of bottle. thanks for your time in reading re the bottle in question from jomac - Kcwhippet - 01-22-2004 Almost all wines are vintage wines and will have the year of harvest somewhere on the label or a neck band. If there's no year anywhere, then it's been bottled as a non-vintage wine and there's really no way to determine how old it is. The wine itself is a Verdicchio, which is a medium bodied Italian white wine that is best drunk young. - Innkeeper - 01-22-2004 Hi Jo Mac, and welcome to the Wine Board. KC is spot on. I like this particular Verdiccio very much and delight that it is widely distributed and sells for around $6 or $7. It makes a dandy aperitif. |
