N/V La Belle Winery Granite State Red - Innkeeper - 05-25-2014

N/V La Belle Winery Granite State Red (Gift from daughter, Alcohol level 11.5%). This wine (?) was a Christmas gift and is made from 80% Marechal Foch grapes, 20% Blueberries; no wonder it says on the bottle "other than standard wine." Despite all that it wasn't half bad. Maybe the oak it was soaked in for four months improved it.

We matched the funky wine with a funky dish. We grilled a dish called Beef Bulgogi that we made with steak loin ends over charcoal and wild cherry chips, along with farro salad. Not bad for a Sunday night. Yum!

What a coincidence. My son was married at La Belle Winery this past Sat. May 24. We were there a few months ago to view the property and tasted through all their wines. I wasn't a huge fan of the reds but their whites (most of them) are very nice. We bought the Riesling, Dry Riesling, Gewurtz and the sparkler, which is made from the dry Riesling.

I think everybody has a BYOB program for the Weener. However chances of you ever making it out this way is rather slim.
