'11 Knapp Finger Lakes Sangiovese - Innkeeper - 02-20-2014

2011 Knapp, Finger Lakes, Sangiovese ($16.95, Alcohol level: 12%). It has a color of deep salmon pink which is what Sang should look like; remember the old Chiantis that came with the grass skirt? Same color. Much of what comes from Italy and California has had the color altered one way or another.

The wine gave lovely fruit on the nose and upfront. Even more in the middle with subdued oak undertones. The finish lingered. We matched it with Lamb Shanks and Spaghetti. Yum!

2013 version; interesting that they only have the '12 on their website. Every bit as good if not better than previous bottling. Served it with the same lamb shanks dish.
