1996 Cinq Cepages - TheEngineer - 10-08-2013

This was WS's 1999 WOTY but I've never been all that impressed by this bottling. It has been a few years since I've tried this one and a friend pulled this out as a reminder.

Tasted blind (semi blind..we knew the decade that it was produced in). Initially a medium bodied wine wit a nose of red and dark berries, wood still not fully integrated, cassis, and a int of greenness and for me, the wine finished a bit hot. Not particularly long on the finish but it did have a decent structure to it. Probably better than most of the other bottles of this that I've had. I was rather suprised when it was shown to us. it is not a bad bottle.

I never thought that this bottle would make its to its 15th birthday. But with this bottle, it has and move beyond that! I can see that it has still a bit of life left in it. However, probably won't get much better than this and needs drinking in the next 3-5 years?
