2006 Maiden (from Harlan) - TheEngineer - 05-11-2013

This is Harlan's second wine. I thought I wrote about it just recently but can't find it.

But had it again tonight and thought it was pretty consistent. Decanted for four hours prior to us arriving, there is still a wall of tannins around this wine. This is a nicely and almost classically built large wine. Feels like what the 1996 bordeaux tasted like a few years ago. Tight and showing nothing. Well I think this one has a lot so it can't hide it all. Nice darl fruit, good sructure and we just need to wait a few before we can see what it is all about.

I thoguht I could keep my hand of this for a while...but.... What made me think a bit more hough was the price of this thing. it is not exactly cheap adn woudl I have preferred say a Pontet Canet for similar price...the answer is most likely yes. but I might pick this over say equally pricey options like Pape Clement (which I've never really understood to the point where I even visited them to see if anything would click.....nothing did...)

so very nice bottle, not the greatest of value like its almost half price sibbling Matriach but still reasonably comfortable where it is.
