Hello wine geniuses. I have a wine fridge thats in almost direct sunlight for a few hours during the day. The fridge has dual paned glass so I dont know if that helps in procecting the wine or if its a method to maintain temp. Please let me know what yall think cause I could easily move it to the basement if its hurting my wine.<P>Thanks

tw the 3 most harmful elements in wine storage are 1st heat, 2nd vibration, and 3rd light. Move that sucker. WW

TW,<P>In addition to what WW has said, having the fridge in the sunlight is going to make the refrigeration unit work harder than it needs to. It's detrimental to the compressor.<P>So, I'd move it to the basement if I were in your shoes. <IMG SRC="http://www.wines.com/ubb2/smile.gif"><P>So many wines... so little time!<P>Cheers

Is false light bad in the aging of wines or is it just sunlight?

If by "false light" you mean flourescent or incandescent..... yes.

Ok lets say I keep that were it is and make it the intermediary from cellar to table. I am not going to spend the mad cash to have a EC shipped to my house and I am in Milwaukee where there isnt much of a wine craze going on here that I could get a hold of a used one so what should my next step be. I would like to get something in the 150-200 bottle range. Also is it easy to wall off a small area in the basement and add refridgeration/humidification to it? Anyway I'd like to know everyones thoughts.<P>Thanks
