Boy its looking like another blood bath in Bordeaux. Pontet Canet is released at 100 euro which means its $150 a bottle on release. I bought 06 and 05 for under $75 and they are awesome wines but I am not sure I can justify even as a guy in the industry to pay this amount. Teysseron is a fantastic proprietor, but is he caught up in the Asian Market swell? :-T

WW, you are beyond the funniest wine man alive. If there was stand up wine comedy, you'd be king my friend!

Alex, I missed this post as I was in final preps for my trip. But I agree with you. Last year I balked but still paid for two cases. This year I balked, choked and then turned away, only to turn back and buy a few bottles to keep the vertical alive. Pontet Canet was a great wine for me when I could buy the 2000's for $39 a bottle. It was a very good value at $89 for the 2005, not so good at $99 for the 2006's and now at $179 a bottle...... No, different league. Is it as good as Palmer, Cos, Ducru and frankly they are way overpriced. I understand the logic that they are using but man it hurts and I'm voting with my wallet.

Smart move. The only way the Frenchies'll learn is to sit on a couple of vntages. Haven't bought diddly from them since the 2000s and can be comfortaable that I wont run out of juice. And the way the market has been swing I dernd sure could run outta' money. WW
