17% Carmenere, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 51% Merlot

Primus is a limited production wine that is produced to showcase the Carmenere variety, but I'm not sure I can identify it in this blend. Dark, opaque garnet. The nose shows hints of tobacco and leather. Well structured with dark fruit and dark berry flavors with secondary flavors that follow nose with a little dark chocolate. The wine exhibits nice complexity with the layering of flavors and time in the glass. It was better on day two with the tannins smoothing out and the flavors seemed richer. Velvety and medium bodied with medium grained tannins that add some rusticity at this stage. I think this wine can age for awhile and develop into a really nice wine for $17. 14.5% Alc.Vol.
