I have recently come across a ceramic bottle of Chinese wine. The lable reads "Wing Lee Wai" in addition it says Hong Kong and at the bottom it says NG KA PY. 3/4 quart, 96 proof. The bottle is sealed and imported by Webster International Imports. Los Angeles, California. Bottle Measures 6.5" tall and 5.0" Wide. It looks very old and I don't really have any knowledge of wines. I would appritiate any input on this bottle.

I'm not surprised that this post has not attracted any reply in over a week. With a name like Brandy1991 you should know that at 96 proof (54.8% Abv) your ceramic bottle contains a spirit, not a wine. What I know about spirits could be published on the back of a postage stamp, but I think you will find that Wing Lee Wai is a person's name, probably the producer or exporter. NG KA PY rang a very dim bell, so I looked that up and found it to be (I quote):

"A well-flavoured Chinese spirit that is rich in extract and regarded also as a nutritional supplement. Herbs are pulverised, blended and then packed into bags prior to maceration in KAO LIANG (a spirit distilled from the juice of the sorghum plant). Other botanicals are cooked in pressure cookers to produce extracts, which are added to the infusion together with caramel, [cane sugar] syrup and maltose. After a settling period, the NG KA PY is bottled. It is fragrant, with good body and concentrated flavour."

It also sounds quite sweet.

Now if someone on the Board knows anything about Webster International Imports in Los Angeles, particularly if and when it ceased trading, we might be able to at least give you a minimum age.
