I'm not much of a wine drinker. I've had a bottle of chardonnay in my cabinet for about 8 years (1987 William Hill) standing upright. I'm attending a Shakespeare in the Park festival tomorrow and would like to impress my date but don't want to open a bad bottle of wine. Should I be concerned about the contents? Should I get another wine? Any help is appreciated.

Sunvolt, back away from the bottle, find a big gun, and put it out of it's misery. I wouldn't advise popping that bottle unless I had the ghostbusters nearby. Unfortunately your wine is too old from an off vintage and improperly stored. Would recommend going to a wine store and have someone with knowledge suggest a nice wine for the date that will impress. Now, if the date goes bad and you need a quick exit, take your wine and offer her a glass. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img] BTW, welcome to the board.
