...turkey that is. Opened Weinbach Gewurztraminer for our table -- delightful.

- Innkeeper - 11-29-2002

We certainly got and enjoyed ours. Details down under (where else?) the Red Zin Thread. We did fix the turkey a whole different way this year with fabulous results. Check out: http://www.foodtv.com/foodtv/print/recipe/0,6255,8865,00.html

ONe of my good friends is Chef Sang Yoon (ex Spago, Chinois, Michaels and quite a few 3 stars in Europe) who now owns a Bar called Fathers Office where he does tapas and the World's Best Burger (as described by four or five national magazines). So anyway, last night he closed the joint, invited friends and did a Too Much Good dinner with Oysters with Banyuls Vinnaigrette and Caviar, White Truffle Risotto, Lamb Chops with Pine Nut and Mint reduction and bitter greens and a huge Spanish Cheese plate but NO TURKEY!!!

Fabulous with, among other things, A Robert Les Mesnil Blanc de Blanc, Jermann Vintage Tunina, Burgen Wolf Kirchenstuck Trocken, Fabrizzi Teroldego, Magdelena Lagrein Taber, Bea Sagrantino, Illuminati Nico and Pepe Montepulciano 1982.....

I'm still digesting, Roberto

Have a great weekend!

We did indeed get the bird... plus a smoked ham and all the other traditionals. We had the Weinbach Gewurztraminer as well. Lovely wine for Thanksgiving.

Whoops, forgot the show stopper: Seared Foie Gras with a Barolo Ginger reduction! I was playing bartender when this came out and I literally sank to my knees on the first bite...

Worked fab with both the riesling and the Lagrein.

About 25 people gathered for a Thanksgiving Dinner at my church. I took a party version of mashed potatoes and pumpkin cake/cream cheese roll. The recipe for the latter was from Libby's (company that sells pumpkin pie filling in cans) and I got the recipe off the Internet. It made a good alternative to the usual pumpkin pie. We had turkey and the best ham I've ever eaten, green bean and broccoli casseroles, etc. In addition to a slice of the pumpkin cake/cream cheese roll I had a slice of date pecan pie.

We had a four-house progressive dinner, from Cava with stuffed mushrooms and smoked salmon on apple wedges -- to porto and stinky cheese and dates. Sooo many lovely wines, including three NZ Sauvignon Blancs that were just luscious. What a great wine! And the Seppelt Tawny stood up alongside a famous and expensive Portugese porto.

We had the Turducken for our Thanksgiving bird and it performed with its' usual flying colors. A southern dish that we've been having for our holidays for almost 20 years. Made sweet-potatoe pie, Green bean casserole, and 7 bean salad. Collier Falls Zin, Edna Valley Syrah, and 29r747639(*&^$ made for aome lovely dining. See all of you seemed to have a ball. Good to be back. WW
