Why don't we have a wine specific forum for California?

We have one for other regions of the world, including the East Coast and the Northwest.

But, where is the CALIFORNIA forum? Should I post my comments on the cali I drank tonight in the "Wines without a Category" Forum?!?

I'd like not to do that. But the wine bottle label gives no clue as to the varietal. So where do I post my comments?

Maybe we should have both cali white and cali red forums.

I think that's a great idea except next he'll want a Virginia wine forum.

What about those wonderful world of wines from Oklahoma? winoweenie. I think the idear is wunnerful.

- mrdutton - 12-02-2000

No not really, the EAST COAST Forum is good and plenty room enough for positing information about the wines from Virginia.

(Drew, you really ought to try the Horton Viognier, the Burnley Stonecastle 2000 and their 1998/1999 Zinfandel.)

Guys, what about New Mexico? Hmmmm? Texas??? LOL

- chittychattykathy - 12-03-2000

No, really I think it's a good point. Cali. has soo many blends and then there are the Barberas and such, it makes sense. (Could rename the Cognac thread as it's not seen any action in over a year.)

Heavens-to-Murgatroid CCK, NOT the Cognac thread. I just bought 5 bottles from Botofugo and was drooling to make my postings.winoweenie

When we formed this board, it was sort of understood that all of the boards WERE CA boards, e.g. Cab, Chard, Pinot, Zin, etc., with other boards listed accordingly e.g. PNW wines.

As a bit of history that some of you may not be aware of, AOL tried to cancel their wine forum (it still exists but is pretty sad). Many people, thru Jackie's gracious help, came here. We had tried various boards on AOL, demanding more and more boards, until it almost got as bad as what WW was kidding about - Oklahoma wines. After a while we found the 10 million boards got too cumbersome, so we asked to consolidate boards and ended up with fewer boards than we had originally had! We were a fickle lot!

So, it was carefully considered (based on AOL experiences) what boards should be put in this forum -- what you see is what the results were. I am sure that Jackie would be open to a new board if a consensus of people requested it, but I personally see no need for a California board. Just my two cents worth.

Well, it was just a thought...........

MrD as the Buckoreenie said, you`d be hard pressed to find a Calif wine that you couldn`t find a thread to post your TN. Remember, we have the all-inclusive, " Wines Wif`-outm` Cattagorical" winoweenie

I agree that California has a huge number of great and satisfying wines, although as someone from Ontario Canada I have to pay a huge exhange rate premium for them. In the words of the great Mr. T., "I pity the fool who only drinks California wines." In Ontario, our liquor board is the largest buyer of wine and spirits in the world and we have the selection to show for it. Check it out at www.winelife.homestead.com or follow the links. Happy holidays everybody.
