Best of luck to you and Bev, IK. Sounds like a wonderful place to live.

IK, good luck with the house! I've heard NH is great. I have seen beautiful pictures of it. And of course it's always nice to be close to family. (Okay, not "always", but most of the time!) ;-)

P.S. I definitely know first-hand about the housing market here in CA. It's quite ridiculous. We just bought a house in Temecula, near wine-country!

IK- Best of luck! Lake Winnie is so beautiful and it's so nice to be close to family! Let us know how things go. WD

Elizabeth,
(I feel funny calling you Lizardbrains). My oldest nephew bought a home (a townhouse I think) in Temecula and now lives in a shared apartment in San Diego (can't afford a home there). He rents out the property in Temecula. Real estate still seems booming in the Temecula area so he figures the property is a good investment. He is also a mortgage broker. Doubt that he handled your mortgage--I think he does most of his business in San Diego area.

WoW (I feel funny calling you wondersofwine!) ;-)

Our broker's name was Jon. I hope your nephew is not him, because this guy was a real snake.

Your nephew has a great idea - renting out his house, let someone else pay his mortgage!! Real estate is definitely a good investment around here, especially if you bought BEFORE the boom (unlike me). Unfortunately, when we move, we'll have to sell this house (hopefully making a profit), because anywhere else we move, we won't make enough income to be able to cover this house's mortgage if we had to.

As I told a friend of mine recently - some day when we move, we'll be able to buy THREE houses with the mortgage we've been paying for this one 1,300 sq.ft. house! (Of course, we won't need three houses, but I'd settle for one 2,000 sq. ft. house and a decent yard!)
