Does bump mean you heard from Kathy? She sent out a question about the Best Western or another motel.

- dananne - 06-01-2005

"Bump" just means that I added a post to get the thread back up in the daily list of posts to find out if any particulars have been sent.

I got an e-mail from Kathy yesterday saying that she has the hotel all set up and would send out the number today, as well as the schedule, but I haven't gotten it yet. I did not see the e-mail you referenced. Perhaps it's getting caught up in my filters. I got the one you forwarded to me some time back, but nothing since.

- wondersofwine - 06-01-2005

Here is what I received Dan.

Hello to all!
Hope that your spring is going well! Mine is going way too fast...

Here is the skinny on the motels here in town.
Special room rate for "The Barn" is $50 single and $55 double.
Special room rate for the "Best Western" is $79
I would like a little feedback before I go with one place over the other,
and can certainly send out info for both if people don't mind being at two
different locations-- they are less than a mile apart in a town of 5,000.
Both are clean enough-- the Best Western is much newer and has a little
higher quality of beds/rooms. Is it worth the $30 savings to be at the barn?
Hard to say-- that's $90 for three nights, but then again this will be a
very special weekend....

After I get some feedback-- I will block out a section of rooms at the
beginning of next week then send out the phone number (s?) so you can each
make your reservation.

As far as the meals go, each (two dinners and two luncheons) will be price
fixed and I will have at least two options offered at each sitting. Price
per person should stay under $40 for dinner and $30 for lunch. The Sunday
event at "Destiny Ridge" vineyards will be a BBQ buffet @ $35-- and includes
"skeet" shooting! It is the country after all...

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you, Jane, for passing this along.

Kathy -- While I'm getting the direct e-mails you send me, I still have not received a "group" e-mail. I've checked my filters, so I don't think it's that. Perhaps my e-mail address is listed incorrectly?

If I wasn't so thick-headed, I'd think I was being sent a message

- newsguy - 06-02-2005

WOW: thanks for posting that e-mail. like dan, i also haven't gotten any e-mails on this in a couple months.

just in case, my e-mail is keithrstclair@NOSPAMyahoo.com (remove NOSPAM)

look forward to meeting so many if you in just two months.

- wondersofwine - 06-02-2005

Well, I since got another e-mail from Kathy and it's now The Inn at Horse Heaven for the same $79 special rate. The room amenities sound nice (I looked it up on the web). Check your e-mail tonight to see if you got this latest e-mail. If not, I will post it tomorrow. One thing, if we still have several winery visits on the Friday, I will probably plan to spend Thursday night in Prosser (one extra night). I will be touring from Portland prior to the offline and don't want to drive from Portland to Prosser early in the a.m. to make the winery visits. Or I could look into flying from Portland to Yakima and renting a car there but that might get expensive.

- Kcwhippet - 06-02-2005

Do we know the firm dates and times for the visits/events yet? I'm a bit unsure what the timing is (lost some emails when I recently changed computers). Kinda need the info to book flights and schedule visits with friends and family before and after the weekend.

KC, the schedule was several winery visits around Prosser on Friday and a dinner that night with John Bookwalter. Visits to wineries near Walla Walla on Saturday with a winemakers' lunch in that area and dinner that night back in Prosser (celebrating Newsguy's birthday!) Two winery visits in Red Mountain AVA on Sunday with barbeque at Destiny Ridge Vineyard (and skeet shooting). I'm not sure what time the winery visits start on Friday but figure I would be better able to appreciate them if I stay in Prosser Thursday night. I probably will stay over Sunday night also and drive back to Portland on Monday August 8 and fly back to NC on August 9. Events Friday through Sunday (August 5-7)

OK. Looks best to get in Thursday afternoon then out on Monday morning.

- newsguy - 06-03-2005

thanks for posting this info, WOW. i'm still not getting the e-mails on this. maybe i should take the hint...

and am i reading this correctly: we're gonna visit two wineries on sunday then do a barbecue (drinking more wine i'd bet) and do skeet shooting? someone's gonna put guns in our hands at this point. this could get ugly.

You're right! I hadn't thought about it quite like that. Borrowing some of WW's humor, if Bucko is in shorts, we might mistake him for a flamingo and shoot him in error. (And you might mistake me for a hippo).

- newsguy - 06-03-2005

egads. flamingos...hippos... i guess that would make me the elephant wearing the hawaiian shirt. i look forward to meeting the rest of the menagerie.

Omigosh, wait till you see the Weener in shorts. Mothers protect your children.

- Georgie - 06-04-2005

Oh come on, KC. He's adorable and you know it!

- winoweenie - 06-04-2005

Yopu tell him sweet Teach! WW

- Kcwhippet - 06-04-2005

Adorable when he's honking your horn or in someone else's car?

Here's my most recent e-mail from Kathy:

I have set up a special rate at $79 a night for the "Inn at Horse Heaven"
(here) in Prosser for August 5-7.

Please call them directly to make your reservation(s).
Once that is done, please send me an email as well so I know who's "in."

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Well looks like it's official that I won't be making it My brother will be flying in from Boston on 8/3, and leaving on 8/7. Have fun everyone, and have a glass for me

- Georgie - 06-10-2005

Bummer.
