I am looking to purchase two bottles of wine.
Both I would like to be made in 1999 and I
would like the wines to last for 25-50 years.
I don't care about costs, I would just like to get the best I can. Thank you in advance if you can help.

The 1999s are of course still babies...many of them still fermenting. I advise waiting two to three years before making the decision.

It looks like a very great vintage (albeit a small one) in California, so that is promising for some Cabernet and Meritage styles.

Bordeaux, Port and Sauternes along with some of the bigger, bolder Italian reds are also candidates.

Let the wines get bottled and then ask again.

Very good advice from WC. About the only '99 out right now is Nouveau Beaujolais which will die within a year. My instincts, provided the vintage is worthy, would be to go with a top of the line '99 Brunello Di Montalcino. They will be available in 2004.
