Hello old freinds!

I just wanted to say, again, that I hope all the NY trip'rs have an amazing time! I had really hoped on sneaking in on this one (with KC's location and scheduling knowledge/help).

But,
I am now off to Belgium to catch up with my British (not Texan, didn't/couldn't make that move) Fiancé.

And yes, he was living in Dubai when we met (in Seattle)a year-and-a-half ago, so I've spent a lot of time there in the last year. If anyone has any questions, let me know! (First off Skip the Burj and stay at the Palace in Abu Dhabi!)

And any ideas on things to see/ places to go in Belgium (we'll be in the Liege area), Amsterdam and Champagne (got most of that covered), please let me know!!!

Two Belgium wineries I am visiting with an old friend and local wine writer: www.wijnkasteel.com, www.vignobledesagaises.be

Dan, thanks for the note on Anne. Tell her hello and that I look forward to catching up!

Verne,
Ya got the right phone number! Try me again some time this week! Love to chat.

Thanks,
And safe and happy journeys to all this month!

Kat

Good to hear from you again, Kat!

Most of my info on Liege & Amsterdam is too dated (mid'70s) to be of use.... but if you like antique furniture and artworks you can go nuts. Be sure to check out the museums. Virtually everyone speaks at least some English (and the Dutch speak it really well) so you shouldn't have a problem communicating. Have fun.

Glad to hear all is well CCK. Will give you a call this week. XX&OOs. WW

If you haven't left already, Kathy, have a good trip. I hope you have better experiences with the Belgian people than I did. The Dutch on the other hand were delightful. On two trips from Germany, Belgium was a series of hassles and rude encounters for me and my traveling companions. One example: in Knokke-Heist, a seaside resort, we get shrimp salad in a place that is both a sit-in restaurant and takeout deli. We go to sit down to eat the salad and are informed that that is a takeout item and we can't sit there and eat it. We take it to the beach and are told we can't eat food on the beach. We end up eating it in our hotel rooms. Our trip was so miserable that we decided to leave a day early, but the hotel owner made us pay for the extra night even though he re-rented the room before we were even out-of-town.

Hotwine, good to hear from you as well, would love to call when I get back and hear what you're up to these days. I love art, so the more gallery/museum time the better.

Wonders, that's a horrid day in a vacation. My Garry is already there and being treated quite well (but then he's British, lol). I think because we're staying in such a small town things will be much different, I hope at least.

I too have run into that "same" guy from your hotel in Knokke-Heist-- but he was working in Italy! (He really gets around.) Rude is rude in any language... I've been there-- its simply amplified when so far from home too.

Kathy,

Give me a call on my cell when you land back at Seatac on the 2nd to confirm the hook up later on.
