- Georgie - 12-19-2009 Hi everybody. I just wanted to say hello. We are getting pretty-well snowed in here. Hibby and I are safe and snug in our recliners, afghans, and scented candles. I pity those who have to be outdoors. I'm thinking about making mulled wine or spiked eggnog for Christmas Eve. What kind of wine? What goes into it? Store-bought eggnog. What kind of booze? - hotwine - 12-19-2009 Hi Georgie-grl. From the dark recesses of memory, German gluwein used a cheap Pinot Noir ... but can't remember what they called it. IK and Wonders, where are you? It was spiced with a gluwein packet (like a tea-bag) or spice stick, but don't know the exact composition - suspect cinnamon and clove. The wine was heated, then the spices were added and the brew was served hot in a mug. For eggnog, we normally use a shot of bourbon in a mug, add 'nog, and sprinkle nutmeg on the 'nog's surface. - Innkeeper - 12-19-2009 Can't add too much to what hotwine said. For mulled wine we use the cheapest red in the rack and mulling tea bags. Not an eggnog person. |
