Ditto to all of you. I feel for our troops today -- it is a very lonely feeling to be away from family and friends at Xmas.

Merry Christmas to all. We hope your day is filled with happiness, good friends and family, and good wine.

Back at you folks.

Yeah, Buckster, I remember Christmas in combat as a surreal experience... was very alone, and yet not.... serenity amid chaos while staring death in the face.

Peace to all.

our holiday was quite a food and wine feast.

we had a wonderful dinner with my best friend and his wife at my favorite restaurant in bethesda, md. on friday night; christmas eve dinner at my brother's house on sunday night; and dinner with my wife, my new mother-in-law and some of her friends at an oceanfront restaurant up on the jersey shore sunday night. great food and some really nice wines all three nights.

my favorite by far was the '04 hartford fanucchi-wood road vineyard RRV zinfandel. RP scored this at 94 and it's worth every point. delicious. wondeful fruit and oak and already drinking beautifully. also really enjoyed the '04 mitolo G.A.M. shiraz. RP scored at 97, but it was eclipsed by the hartford zin that we drank before it. the mitolo is *very young* and needs a few years, or splash decant and give it a few hours. wines i also liked included an '04 cristom pinot noir (textbook oregon pinot) and a '01 felsina berardenga chianti classic riserva.

hope you all enjoyed your food and beverages as much as i did: friday night i had a buffalo hanger steak in a green peppercorn sauce; sunday, my brother made two lasagnas, a classic red sauce plus a white beychamel-based sauce that was incredibly good; monday stuffed myself on a buffet where i focused on shrimp cocktail, raw oysters, pork loin, ham and prime rib. burp! excuse me
