We got 10 inches of snow in Harford County Maryland, 20 miles NE of Baltimore. Still digging out today and am thankful that we got the snow and not the ice. Got plenty of food, fire wood and wine.

Sounds like you're in great shape, Drew. Don't envy you the job of dealing with that snow, though. We haven't had that much since '85, when we had 17 inches over a 3-4 day period that January.

The critters around here have been sayin' for weeks that it will be a cold winter, and I believe 'em.

What storm???

Saw the grim details on the news. I'll happily stay on the left coast......

We were dismissed early from work on Wednesday and reported with a two-hour delay Thursday (only to find that our building was without power and eventually we were sent home). Fayetteville did not get snow or suffer as much ice damage as the Raleigh area. It will be several more days before power will be restored to all the Triangle area customers--tree limbs iced up and fell on power lines, streets are blocked by fallen
limbs and lines, etc.

It started snowing about noon yesterday and it's still snowing. The good part is that we only have 3" over that time period, so it's more of a nuisance than anything. We're hearing reports from down south that about one million folks are without power and it may be a few days until it's all back on. We lived in NC for about 6 years back in the 50's and I can remember only two snow storms that were worth mentioning. Hurricanes though ... that's another matter.

Yeah you right, Verne! This week it has been in the low seventies and even dipped into the sixties yesterday. I had to break out my 64 Volvo P-1800 and put the Alfa Romeo ragtop in the shop to get painted....

My usual wine shop is without power but plans to open Saturday from 12-5 anyway (this is in Raleigh). The owner will bring some kind of lights and they will sit and shiver and sip Sancerre he says. I guess they'll have to leave electronic cash registers behind and record sales the old-fashioned way.
I will be in Charlotte, NC this weekend--hopefully with power. I plan to do some power eating and wine tasting and see THE BOSS-Bruce Springsteen.
