I have always enjoyed the full bodied nature and smoothness of the Stag's Leap cabernets. Is it ridiculous to pay the brand name premium, and are there some other more reasonably priced cabernets with a similar full bodied yet smooth consistency??

Dannyp, Welcome to the board. I take it you`re talking about Warrens` Stags Leap Wine Cellars. If so, there are several Stags Leap wineries that offer the " Iron-Fist, Velvet-Glove effect at much lower prices,IMHO without a great drop-off of Quality. In the 20-30 buck range try Silverado, Pine Ridge, or slightly higher, Shafer. Just above the S.L. area is the marvelous Joe Phelps. His Napa is a killer for the bucks. Lot of great juice out there. What a great time to be a RED wine drinker. Winoweenie
