- Sillygoose - 01-30-2000 What is the best way to store a bottle of port after opening? How long should it last? - Bucko - 01-30-2000 Tawny or Vintage? - Thomas - 01-31-2000 Bucko, I did not think it made a difference. Generally, port will not live long after the bottle has been open, unless you take some precautions, like a nitrogen blanket et al. I do the same with port as I do with table wine; pour the unused into a smaller bottle, unless it is an old port. - Bucko - 01-31-2000 You can store a Tawny for upwards of a month after opening, Vintage only about a week..... at least this is what I read. The stuff never lasts that long around my place. Bucko - Thomas - 01-31-2000 Yeah, once a bottle of port gets opened around here there is no need to count days... - n144mann - 01-31-2000 Bucko, I have read the same thing about the vintage verses the wood-aged tawnys. Tho my own experience is like yours and Foodies....who has it around that long! Nancy |
