- vinoword - 10-20-2005 Has anybody else seen the gallop poll results stating that wine is officially more popular than beer? Dan www.vinoword.com - Drew - 10-21-2005 Don't believe it. While wine is very popular, malt beverages remain king. Drew - Innkeeper - 10-21-2005 Have seen it, but don't believe it! - winoweenie - 10-21-2005 I voted 2 gazillion,3 hunnert and 6 times. The figures mite be skewed. WW - Kcwhippet - 10-21-2005 I believe the poll showed that wine consumption increased somewhat while beer consumption dropped a tad. Not quite the same as wine being more popular than beer, but encouraging nonetheless. - Thomas - 10-21-2005 After going over some figures, looks like retail wine sales in the U.S. have increased 57% since 1995. Don't know what that means relative to beer, but the signs are clear where wine has been heading. Oh, before KC gets me--that's cases moved, not dollars collected. I love them both, just am picky with them both (particularly with Beer, whose top producers in terms of quantity are far worse, comparatively speaking, than high quantity producers of wine). |
