A very affordable option that provides wines from around the world is "the original" Wine of the Month Club in Monrovia, CA. Website is:

These are typically good (sometimes very good) wines. Each month the subscriber gets one American & one international selection. Also flexible in that subscribers can request "reds only" or "whites only."
