Hi,

I have read a glass a day is healthy so that is why I am looking to try wines.
I am really new to wines, so maybe my history will help making some suggestions to me. I am not a drinker of alcohol products (Nyquil makes my stomach turn violently ill). I tried an inexpensive bottle of red, cant remember name though and to me it seemed like it was all alcohol in smell and taste. It barely touched the tip of my tongue and I thought I was going to be incredible ill (mabye wine just isnt for me). I like fruity types of drinks but not mixed fruits together (silly question but is there a wine with taste like bananas ) I love juices like apple, grape etc. Are there wines like these?

Tx for all your help.

Welcome to the board. Suggest you look for the Beaujolais Nouveau from Georges Duboeuf. It's only $7-$8, has just been released, and the yeast used has a slight banana flavor. It won't be around more than a few weeks, since it's made to drink young. After that, you can move on to other Beaujolais from Duboeuf to continue with the slight banana flavor.

What kind of health are you looking for? Red wine, as well as lots of other things, are good for the heart. White wine, as well as lots of other things are good for preventing cancer. If the former, there is some emperical evidence that says its the alcohol as well as the compounds that help the heart. The compounds, by themselves, are found in non-alcoholic wine, grape juice, tea, etc. If cancer is the what you are not after, both non-wooded chardonnay (we can help you find them) and some rieslings give you a banana flavor. Again, there are other well known things that prevent cancer.

Would not normally go into all this, but it really sounds like you cannot handle alcohol, and we don't wish to foist it on anybody. You might give some of the suggestions you find here a shot, and if your body still says "no alcohol", try some of the alternatives.
