Hello, Very new to this and would welcome very much any recommendations for a French wine --- mainly to be had with cheese and bread. Thank you very much. Rick

Welcome to the board.
Any number of French wines work very well with cheese and bread. One of the Cru Beaujolais would be my recommendation, especially for the novice. Look for one from Georges Duboeuf. Suggest you go down the list of Wine Specific Forums to Beaujolais, and read some of the postings there for the last year. Duboeuf's Chiroubles, Julienas, Morgon, Fleurie and Moulin-A-Vent are all superb wines for light sipping. I like them all lightly chilled, at 50-55 degrees.
