- Miss_Parker - 09-13-2001

I have to do an assignment on wines for my Bar Attendants course and was wondering if anyone could help me. I need to name at least 10 common wines, where they are from, and what they are served best with. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Hi there Miss_Parker and welcome to the board. I suggest you go to the Wine/Food Thread, go back for the full year, do lots of reading and note taking and you'll get the info you need and also mite learn something that will be of use in your chosen field. We frown highly on this board about doing students home-work. Defeats the purpose. WW

We were told to use the internet to get the answers. The course is only a 6wk Bar Attendants Course and to me it seems like you dont know the answers any way so I'm not going to bother. You seem rude and before you go around accusing people of cheating, you could at least find out the facts 1st.

- Bucko - 09-19-2001

They said to use the internet to find the answers, no to be spoonfed by people in the know. What ever happened to the days of RESEARCH???? You research an article, do your best, then ask for help....... I do not see where WW is rude at all, rather he gave you good advice.

- Miss_Parker - 09-19-2001

Yeah??!! Think what you like...This is how we were told to look up information..."use forums and chat rooms" he said. "They will be very helpful" He said, "expecially try this site" & look at the response I got!!! I dont think so, never again!!!

So there Bucko!!....Must be related to Robert. WW

- hotwine - 09-19-2001

It seems that many young people are being TAUGHT that "research" consists of posing a question to a knowledgable person and waiting for an answer. That seems like a TEACHER problem. Maybe these teachers are the same people who as kids were allowed to write book reports from comic books.

nanny, nanny, doo-doo....you don't know the answers anyway.....

Thr response that you got was not to your liking because we asked you to WORK for it. Your present attitude is not the way to obtain an education nor help.

- wondersofwine - 09-19-2001

I hope she has a better attitude with the customers ordering drinks or she may cost the owner some business. Miss_Parker, on the slight chance that you still might be reading replies on this thread, the different folders on this wine board site list some common wines, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, etc. Both this site and the Wine Spectator site have folders on food and wine pairing. I hope you will try them and add to your education.

- winoweenie - 09-19-2001

Sometime I wish I hadn't given advice to the novices on the board, and Miss_Parker I ASSURE you I know ALL the answers you need to know but I learned them the hard way, by reading and experience. If you think we're not knowledgable on this board then one of us is kookie. WW

My, my. I stay away for a few hours and all Hell breaks loose.

Honestly, I am beginning to believe that the Internet is an insidious plot perpetrated by educators who want to nap.

- barnesy - 09-19-2001

Besides, when the professor recommended this site, they might have meant the huge database of wine info we also have on the front page.

Wow! With an attitude like that you think someone put a gun to her head and forced her to take this course. I guess it would be asking to much to put alittle effort in and do some independent research.

- joeyz6 - 09-20-2001

The funniest part of this thread was Miss P. suggesting that WW didn't know the answers! If she realized the simplicity of her question I suppose she wouldn't have just asked you fellas for quick answers. You have to understand a question before you can ask it, I would say...

- Drew - 09-20-2001

You all must be kidding yourselves if you think WW knows the answers....I know for a fact that Roberto slips him the answers via email.

- Bucko - 09-20-2001

That's not true -- Roberto can't write. although he could have voice recognition....
