i'm fairly new to the wine appreciation scene, but am an enthusiastic learner. this burgundy is by far the most expensive and best (i hope) bottle of wine i've acquired in my very limited experience.

can anyone tell me what to expect from this wine? does anyone know where i might be able to see a rating on it? it's not on wine spectator's free database.

anything that anyone would have to offer would be appreciated by this relative novice.

for what it's worth, i'm planning on having this wine with some grilled, marinated pork tenderloins.

thanks!

Louis Jadot produces some consistently good wines for the dinner table. I have been drinking several of his wines for a number of years, but have not had his burgundy.

Here is what wine spectator says about the 1996 Bonnes Mares: A seductive Pinot from start to finish. Ultrarich, full-bodied, plummy style of Burgundy, with a touch of petrol along with the pure wild berry, cassis and toasted oak notes and a velvety mouthfeel that coats the palate.

As for the 1993 I have no personal experience, but I checked vintage charts from three sources. Two out of three said that the 1993 red burgundy was quite good and one said it was just good. All seem to feel that it is ready to drink now but might withstand a bit more ageing in the bottle.

Drink and enjoy!! Your idea to pair this wine with pork is a decent one.
