Allrighty I'm a complete noob when it comes to wine. I've been told whie wine is good with poultry but I would like something specific. I'm making a spicy chicken and want something that will go well with that. Preferably something not too crazy expensive. thanks fer the help

Hi Vike, and welcome to the Wine Board. Nothing goes better with spicy chicken than Gewurztraminer. You should be able to find a nice one (even in Alaska) in the $10-$15 range.

Ok, on a broader note I am a fan of beer but am looking to broaden my horizons. I don't know if there is anything that is good to start off with coming from being a beer drinker, but if there is what would that be? All I really know is that I like red wine...white is pretty decent. But I'm here to learn so please share as much as you want. thankee.

Beer drinkers often also like wine. Some of the folks here who make homebrews also attend wine tastings. It's all about finding things that please your palate.

Have you checked with your local wine stores to see if they do regular tastings? These are usually inexpensive or free and a great way to check out what's available in your market.

Otherwise, if you give us an idea of what wine you've had previously and liked, we could make some recommendations. Or, if you can't remember, at least an idea of the sort of food you enjoy most often.

I never really paid too much attention to the names of what I was drinking. I really like Italian food. So I guess that would be a place to start. Thanks for the idea about wine tastings too.
