- kamoco - 02-14-2004 my boyfriend only likes red wines.. so red suggestions would be appreciated - tandkvd - 02-14-2004 Hi kamoco, and welcome. There are more knowledgable people here than I, and I am sure they can give you other sugestions. But I would go with a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. One that I had reciently that I liked is Spy Valley. Kim Crawford is also good. Both can be found for less than $15. Well some how I got switched over to this new post and now I see you may need a red wine. Probaly a Pinot Noir would work. Villa Mt. Eden or Pepperwood Grove are both good. Just thought of another angle. A sparkling wine would be good also. If you can find a Prosecco that would go well, IMHO. It's not red but would be good for Valentines Day. If you want something Italian if this indeed is an Italian meal look for a light Barbera d'Asti (the lighter ones are the less expensive ones) or a light Chianti Classico such as Cecchi. All should be available in any Pennsylvania State store. - kamoco - 02-14-2004 thank you soo much for your help. just one more stupid question... a friend of mine said he likes cabernet.. what type of meal does that go with? - Innkeeper - 02-14-2004 Steak! - kamoco - 02-14-2004 thanks! you were both very helpful! have a happy valentines day! love kamoco - Kcwhippet - 02-14-2004 There's nothing like a really good young Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with a grilled ribeye steak, garlic mashed potatoes and a freshly baked baguette, IMHO. Yum! - sedhed - 02-20-2004 Do yu think the steak fat helps tone down the tannins on a young Cab.? - Drew - 02-20-2004 Absolutely! Drew - Kcwhippet - 02-20-2004 Conversely, the young tannins moderate the occasionally cloying quality of the fats in the steak. Perfect match. |
