Again, i'm a novice...while dining in the Netherlands on business last week, our host ordered a French white Meursoult (might be mispelled). I thought it was absolutely incredible. I sent him an e-mail asking for the specifics on the wine, and all he sent back was a note saying it was a Meursoult. Isn't Meursoult simply the region within France....wouldn't i need to know the specific details of the winery, etc. in order to order a bottle?

thanks.

Meursault is a subregion of Burgundy. The wines from there probably, and this is a matter of opinion, second only to those from Montrachet as the finest chardonnays in the world. You are right about needing to know the name of the producer. Chances are the one you had in Holland might not be available in the U.S. You should go to one of the fine wine stores in your area, especially one specializing in Burgundy, and peruse the Meursault isle to see if you recognize any of the bottles. If not, try one of the ones you find there.
