My Husband is coming home from Iraq soon and I want to get a nice bottle of wine for the night he comes home. He loves wine and I dont really like it that much. I was wondering if anyone has any reccomendations on a good bottle of wine that doesnt have such a bitter taste? I will probably make some kind of desert also (i was thinking choc. souffle) so a wine that would go good with that would be nice. Thank you so much!

Hi Rachel and welcome to the Wine Board. Champagne or other sparkler such as a Spanish Cava. In champagne speak "Extra Dry" means "off dry" or slightly sweet. That is what you should look for.

A good match for chocolate is a sparkling red wine from Italy, Brachetto d'Acqui. Banfi has one of the widely sold brands that is called Rosa Regale.
Banyuls also goes nicely with chocolate. It is a fortified wine, with some similarity to Port, from southern France.

I'll ditto Bucko and WOW on the BdA. It don't get better than this combo. OTOH you could give the chocolate to the kids, slice some Roquefort and ease the cork out of a 97 Suduiraut (or however they spell it). Yummmmm.
