What can the board or others tell me about Cascade Cliffs 97 Merlot? As a relative newcomer to the wine world I wondered how others would compare it to Columbia Crest/Columbia Valley 96 Merlot and Mcguigan Bin 3000 Merlot/Murray Valley Vintage 2000? Both of the latter I find very enjoyable. Thanks

I've never had the wine, but welcome to the board from a neighbor right up the road in Steilacoom.

Avalonwine.com has this description: "Medium bodied smooth oak laced wine with flavors of current, spice and berry finishing with mild tannins." Probably would have been able to come up with the same thing, sight unseen!

Hey, IK..... Sounds like something should have been left out. Take away the OAK and then use this stuff as a blend with CS.

Then, maybe, there would be a decent wine.

Maybe............

Bob makes some really great wines and some good/okay wines. IMHO his Merlot is good, but his Nebbiolo is great!

Thanks for the replies on Cascade Cliffs. May give it a try CCK just to see. Took a look at Bucko's wine lovers page and like the local stuff. Miss Mead's rankings so look forward to Bucko's efforts. Also enjoy his feature in the Daily O.

For Drew. Re: "Miss Mead...". Not as in gender, but the absence of Jerry Mead and those wonderful ratings that he posted which helped us fledglings.

Gotcha.....I "Missed" the correct "Miss"!
