- Ardines - 12-11-2000 What are the best recommended Chilean or Argentinian Wines?. I'm looking for dry, red, smooth wines. - winecollector - 12-11-2000 I don't drink any high end wines from those areas, just everyday drinkers. I'd recommend trying Santa Alica, both their merlot and their cabernet sauvignon can usually be had for under $10. - Innkeeper - 12-11-2000 Have had several very nice malbecs from the Mendoza region of Argentina. Have not found any producers that made a dog. Trapiche sells one for around $8 and others range up to $13 or $14. - Drew - 12-11-2000 Ardines, welcome. Casa Lapostolle and the Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexander Merlots are very good from Chile as well as the Concha Y Toro Don Melchor Cabs. Also from Chile is Viu Manent which I enjoy for their Malbec. Drew - Thomas - 12-11-2000 Also look for Flichman Malbec--real good. - Drew - 12-11-2000 Right on Foodie! I didn't want to let the secret out but it's mighty good and cheap. I found some 96's recently for $8...great stuff!! Drew - chittychattykathy - 12-12-2000 Try Montes Alpha Cab Sauv. from Chile - janrob - 12-24-2000 A number of Chilean and Argentinian wines are reviewed at www.winelife.homestead.com This is an Ontario site so I don't know which ones are available in your area. Check out the monthly top values and 'regular list' for quicker access. Happy holidays. |
