- nellie1122 - 07-16-2001 I want to buy a California wine for a friend who is a wine collector. But, I don't know a thing about good wine, and don't want to spend more than $30. Any suggestions? - Innkeeper - 07-16-2001 Hi Nellie, and welcome to the Wine Board. You haven't specified whether you want a red or a white wine. For a red would recommend Robert Talbott, Logan, Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, Pinot Noir (approx. $18). They also put out a wonderful line of chardonnays (white wine) that run from around $15 up to $45. They can be picked up at the their tasting room in Carmel Valley, or from the Taste of Monterey retail shop in Monterey. It would make a nice day trip down from SF. - winoweenie - 07-16-2001 Hi there Nellie and welcome to the board. Call my good friend Leslie Hennessey at Hennesseys' Wine Shop. A good Cabernet at your price point is the Hess Collection, vintage 1997. Have fun. Tell Leslie Verne Batchelor said hey! WW |
