I'm looking for information on 1985 & 1989 Bordeaux. More specifically: I was recently given a bottle each of 1985 and 1989 Domaine de la Gaffeliere St. Emilion, and I'm wondering what their value is, and whether they'd be best consumed soon, or saved. Any general information on either vintage would also be appreciated.

Hi millenatasha, and welcome. The wine you have- if it was stored properly, should make for a nice drinker. The 85' has likely already peaked.... and the 89' is probably either at or approaching peak. As far as value, neither one is worth much, likely $50 or less. If you decide to open them, I suggest decanting the 89'. The 85' will likely be fruiter and less concentrated than the 89', typical of St. Emilion. Hope this helps.
