- broadway - 12-04-2000 I'm looking for a very good bottle of Kosher Wine. It's a gift, so I'm looking in the $150 range. I was wondering if Baron Herzog makes a Kosher Cabernet or Merlot. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. - barnesy - 12-05-2000 I know Georges Duboeuf makes a kosher Beaujolais, villages i think. It is aorund 10 bucks.... I found it at www.popswine.com. As far as some more ritzy wines, you may wish to check out some of the upper end wines produced in Israel. They have a growing wine industry and your chances of finding a kosher one will go up significantly. Plus, if, like I am thinking, this is a gift for a Jewish person, it could also lend some extra sentimental value. Barnesy - Drew - 12-05-2000 Here's two links for many producers of Kosher wines. http://wine.about.com/food/wine/cs/kosherwines/ AND http://www.kosherqualitywines.com/ Drew [This message has been edited by Drew (edited 12-05-2000).] - winoweenie - 12-05-2000 Broadway, welcome ro the board. I`m sure Baron makes both varietals and Carmen used to make Kosher wines, but I`ve never heard of one that`s in the quality/Price range you quote. There`s a fine retailer near you in Northridge, aptly names Northridge wines and some very knowledgeable wine merchants like Hi Time Cellars in Costa Mesa Ph# 800 331-3005 and Bel-Aire in West LA Ph#310-447-2020. If these three dudes can`t answer your question, it`s a mystery-unsolvable. winoweenie - Innkeeper - 12-09-2000 Have never met a Baron Herzog wine I didn't like and think any of them would make a nice gift. If you want to spend more, why not give a case? |
