I have a bottle of Braren Pauli Merlot, 1991 Alexander Valley(Northern California). I've heard this should've been consumed within 5-7 years of its vintage. Is this bottle still good. It's been stored in optimal conditions.

Thanks for any help,
Don

I'm guessing your Merlot is drinking just fine about now, given proper storage, though I wouldn't hold it much longer.

In the most general terms, we tend to think of Cabernets as ten year wines...Merlots as five year wines.
