Hi everyone,

I absolutely love Beringer White Zinfandel, no other will do. I have tried some reds in the past but didn't like the cotton mouth aftertaste. I don't recall the type or brand. I'm looking for a fruity red that doesn't have the aftertaste. I just tried Beringer's Pinot Noir. It was smooth without the aftertaste but not fruity enough. Looking for something more robust than Beringer's Pinot Noir. Help, any suggestions?

I'd suggest a Beaujolais. Check the thread below for some suggestions.

You may also want to try a Lambrusco. Let us know what you try and what you think, and we may be able to point you in other directions, if need be.

Hi BWZ, and welcome to the Wine Board. Beaujolais Villages, Fleurie (a Cru Beaujolais), Dolcetto and Barbera from Piedmont, Italy; and Barbera from Northern California. That's five.

Any particular brand you like of Beaujolais & Lambrusco? Saw the thread below but didn't see any brand recommended. Looking for something fairly inexpensive mostly will drink for health benefits.

I am also new to the wine experience. I also want to learn about red/fruity tasting wines that are mild for first-timers. Also...how long can I keep a bottle in the fridge...since I am the only one drinking it?
Once opened...how long before it goes bad...or does it? Thanks!

The best recommendation is to get ahold of a half (375 ml) bottle. When finished, wash it out and thoroughly dry. Get a good stopper or keep a cork that didn't get demolished in the uncorking. When you open a wine (in a full bottle) that you know you can't finish, uncork and fill up the 375 ml to the top. Put the stopper or cork in the small bottle and refrigerate it. Drink the half bottle that is left out of the big bottle. Within a week, remove the small bottle from the fridge about an hour before dinner to warm up a little. Talking about red wine here. Do the same with white wine, but you don't have to warm it up too much.
