- barnesy - 04-20-2001 I got this in an email from a friend. Thought you all might get a kick out of it. Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is team up with E & J Gallo Winery of Modesto, Calif., to produce the spirits at an affordable price; in the $6-8 range. While wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand wine into their shopping carts, there is a market for cheap wine, said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, "There is wine in a box that people are willing to buy," she said. "The right name is important" The top 15 suggested names for Wal-Mart Wine: 15. Box O' Grapes 14. Chateau Traileur Doublewide 13. White Trashfindel 12. Big Red Gulp 11. Grape Expectations 10. Nasti Spumante Barnesy - winecollector - 04-20-2001 I wonder if the label is going to have a big yellow smiley face on it? - barnesy - 04-20-2001 Actually, Its under a label called "Alcott Ridge" or something similar to this. Has some nice trees and mountains I think.... I think they really tried to downplay the wal-mart aspect of it all. Barnesy - winoweenie - 04-22-2001 IMHO, the label should show a smiley face of old man Walton with the motto; " I stomped a lot of grapes to bring you this juice! " WW - IrishMum - 04-22-2001 I couldn't stop laughing when I read #9!!! |
