Hi all,
I want to buy a 21 year old wine for my boyfriend for his birthday...However, I really don't know much about wine...I searched www.wine-searcher.com
It gave me a lists of wines that's made in 1979. However, I dont'know which one is best to buy? My budget is around $100-150 US dollars. It will be great if anyone can give me some suggestions. Thanks

The trouble lies in the fact that 1979 was not a stellar year in CA or Bordeaux, and Port did not declare. It will be tough to find a wine still kicking.......

That said, the Diamond Creek wines should still be holding, perhaps the Mayacamas and Phelps Insignia,

How about doing a 20 year aged port? It would be the close to his birthday and a great wine!!!

Hi Olivia and welcome to the board. Bucko gave you good advice on the 3 Calif wines as all three are alive and kicking. Another I reviewed was the 79 Vieux Telegraph. A wonderful Rhone and also had a E Guigal 79 Cote Rotie that was marvelous. winoweenie
