Hi All,

Any advice would be much appreciated - I have a bridal shower to attend at the end of the month and I was asked to buy a bottle of wine (red or white) that the couple can open on their 25th wedding anniversary. I haven't bought a bottle of wine that's lasted more than a week without being consumed - hee, hee!!

Any recommendation on a wine that will keep that long? and one that wont break the bank?

TIA

Hi Tia, and welcome to the Wine Board. There are no sure bets. You do not know how many times the couple will be moving around during the next twenty five years, or what kind of storage conditions they will have, e.g. an apartment closet or multi-thousand dollar built in wine cellar.

The surest bet to weather all these storms is Vintage Oporto also know as vintage Port. Don't know what breaks your bank, but you are looking at least at $80 minimum here. Most other aging worthy wines, all of which are more risky for 25 years, will cost around the same.
