One year ago I bought a bottle of wine from a vintage wine shop in Brimingham, AL. My wife and I loved it. We are not connoisseurs by any means, but we try and enjoy many different kinds of wine. Well, like an idiot, I did not write down the name of the wine or anything about it, so finding it again has been unsuccessful. I have been back to the same shop (about 3 months ago), and they have no recollection of that bottle via my discription. so, I thought I would disclose everything I remember about the bottle and the taste (which is not much) and see if any of you experts (or novices) recognize it.

It was French wine (of this I am sure)

It was RED wine.

I don't really know what I'm talking about here, but it seemed full bodied to me (if that helps).

The label was a Midnight Blue with a word in RED script written across it at an angle. The word began with the letter M (I believe), and was about 7-10 characters long.

Any info would be appreciated. I've really got to have it again! It also has some sentimental value.

Thanks

Ah, there are other wines out there in the great big beautiful world. I think that you must take it upon yourself to research them all to find that which most closely matches your mystery wine.

Did you pay by credit card? Perhaps the folks at the wine shop have that record.

Good idea! I hadn't thought of that. I'm an Auburn grad. Did you go to school at AU?

Sounds familiar. Doesn't that cheap merlot from Christian Mouieux look sort of like that with Mouieux diagonally across the label? Or has my memory completely gone south.

Attaway, ol' Drewsleuth! Their "Harvest Reserve" label looks like it could be referred to as "midnight blue".

Thanks Drew!!!

I went to the website, and the bottle and lable do look familiar. However, I swear that the actual word was in the color red/orange. I'm going to try to find it here in Birmingham.

Again, thank you.

I love Mirassou. Their 97 Reserve Cab is killer. They have a 97 or 98 unfiltered Pinot Noir that is very very good. But grapesofwrath stated it was a French wine. Christian Mouieux, not too crazy about, but the match seems better, but I thought the 2000 Merlot was in a White label. My suggestion is to buy them both and have a great evening either way...
