So I've just started drinking wine and I have become very fond of Ice wines, but they're pretty expensive and they come in small amounts. I was wondering If anyone could suggest some other types of good sweet wine. I know they would not be as sweet as the ice wines, but what would be a good type of wine to go from there?

Welcome to the board and certainly you started a bit high end

Here are some other wines that are much less expensive and might be able to satisfy that sweet tooth. Others might chime in too.

(1) Nivole (it's a half bottle for about $10)
(2) Muscato D'asti (it's a sparkler too so it might be fun.)
(3) German rieslings with the words "Riesling Auslese" on the front. Good brands include Dr. Loose, Prum (any), Jost, and others.
(4) look for Late Harvest Rieslings instead of just icewines. Half the cost and most of the sensations.
(5) Vinsantos (italy or greece)
(6) Tokai
(7) Quady is a US brand that makes Essencia and Orange Muscat that works well too

Good luck

Welcome Alex. For reds you might want to check out some Italian Labruscos. The most popular brand is Reunite, but reputable wine stores (and you have a good selection in Austin) will have a broader selection.

You are only an hour's drive from Texas Wine Country. Most wineries east of the Rocky Mountains will make a selection of wines across the sweetness specturm, both red and white. Check 'em out.

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried the Riesling Auslese yesterday and it was really good. I can't wait to try some of the other ones =)
