Hello anyone, I have a vintage 1991 commemerative bottle of Black Label Claret from the Francis Ford Coppola winery Niebaum-Coppola wines. I have been debating drinking it. Can anyone tell me if it is worth more than an everyday bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Save it or Drink it?

One more question;
Should this bottle of wine be better now 10 or 11 years later than it was in 1991? In general do all reds get better with age?

If you had said do "some" reds get better with age rather than "all" reds, then the answer would have been "Yes". For instance, Robert Mondavi's Reserve Napa Cab would be better in 10 years, but the Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Cab - I don't think so. A lot depends on the vintage, the producer and the producer's specific product.

To further answer your question Bojo, the Black Dia is made to be drunk within 5 years of vintage. Open, say one hail, and look shyward. WW

I guess I better not chance using this one to impress the boss or for a special occasion huh. I'll let you know how I come out when I drink it. Thanks for the advice.

By the way, as you might have assumed I am a novice at this wine appreciation biz but I like to drink a glass (or a bottle or two)of good wine...Cabs to Chards to Wht Zin.
I hope you don't mind me popping in now and then for a little advice and education. I ask a lot of questions. I get the feeling that what ever question I have you will have the answer. Thanks.

Hey WW & KC,
I finally opened the bottle on Labor Day. My concern that the cork came apart while opening it was for not. The wine was very good. Smooth, not sweet with a scent of dark berry (listen to me). Had it with BBQd steak and patatoes, went well. The merlot we opened afterwards was no match. I think I'll be buying more of this one. Thanks for the advice. BL

Well Boogs looks like there was residual value in FFCs' bottle. Glad it provided the pleasure it was bottled to deliver. WW
