Hey all wine lovers,
I am a new wine fan. I have tried several different selections from my local Trader Joe's and I really enjoy the wide selection and different tastes. I find that I like almost all of them. I would like to be more educated about what it is I am drinking, however. I have checked some wine appreciation web sites to see if I can find a local wine tasting class in Southern California. I have not found one yet. Can anyone please tell me if they know of a lovcal University or culinary school (LA county or Orange county) that may have an introductory type wine tasting/appreciation class? I really appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks
David

Robert Lawrence Balzer, the great pioneering wine educator, author and former L.A. Times Magazine wine columnist is still teaching his very popular courses somewhere in the L.A. Basin. He's 87 years young and still leading tours to Europe and California wine country, judging at international wine competitions and is busy writing his biography...which includes his years as Gloria Swanson's roomie and the Buddhist monk period, the restaurateur period, etc.

Also, there's a friendly chapter of W.I.N.O. (Wine Investigation for Novices and Oenophiles in nearby Orange County). It's a wine appreciation group that takes the wines seriously but not itself. If you'll contact me by e-mail (winetrader@aol.com)and supply a postal address, I'll see to it that both send along information/brochures.
