I've been givin a few to look over. I need your advice. Fruity Dolcetto, earthy Cabernet Franc, medium body Zinfandel, older Rioja, Voignier, unoaked or lightly oaked Chardonay or Rose'. In picking two, which would be better and in which order. I'm a novice as you can tell. Thanks.

Hi Bummer and welcome to the Wine Board. Those are just about all good choices. I would go with the Red Zin (medium body) and the Rose' provided the Rose' was dry. If it is sweet, then go with the unoaked Chard such as a Maconnais.

Thanks, If you were having Thanksgiving dinner that included Hen, which would do better. Which should I have before or during dinner or as an appetizer and then which for after dinner.

A lot depends on two things. First is the rest of dinner traditional (stuffing, gravy, cranberry, sweet pots, et al), and secondly how many people. If the answer to the first question is yes, and the second lots, then go with my recommendation.

If there is not a bunch of conficting flavors go with the lightest red. If there is a small crowd, and you know they all drink red, serve the white or rose' beforehand.
